Event Recap: The Upside of Downsizing with Topsfield Council for Aging

Many thanks to Kathleen Barbarisi at Topsfield Council on Aging for hosting "The Upside of Downsizing” last month! This was a great opportunity for attendees to meet local resources who are available to provide support and resources whether you decide to age in place or are ready to downsize.

Attendees learned about home modification options to consider to keep you safe in your home and avoid falls. Tracy Valleti from Northeast Care Management shared questions to consider when deciding whether it's time to downsize. I shared some thoughts on how to best prepare your home to sell and information on the current home market. We kicked off the program with a video interview with my past client who shared about her decision to downsize and her life now in a senior living community at Residence at Riverbend.

Barbara's advice to people considering a move to a senior living community: "don't be afraid you will lose your independence because you won't". She shared about all the daily social events she can choose from now and that you don't have to worry anymore about cooking, shopping, cleaning or yard work anymore!

Director Tara Jalbert from Residence at Riverbend shared additional information about the community and brought a delicious lunch enjoyed by all. All in all, a great success and we were blessed with beautiful weather!
