Event Recap: Upside of Downsizing Danvers
I'd like to thank Liz Barnes at Danvers Council on Aging for hosting the recent "Upside of Downsizing" program. We had a great audience with lots of good questions and discussions. I shared information about the current real estate market and advice about how to best prepare your home to sell.
Charlotte Melanson of Junk Junk Baby offered up a lighthearted and fun puppet show of mini emogis showing the various emotions we all feel when we are faced with letting go of all of our stuff when downsizing. Lisa Linard, home organizer/move manager had some great tips on getting started with decluttering. Henry Jensen shared a bit about what antique dealers are interested in today and some fascinating real life show and tell examples of items sellers were ready to discard that were actually very valuable. Don't get that dumpster until you call Henry or an antique dealer like Henry for a consult!
Sarah Martel provided an overview of Brightview Danvers and acknowledged some of the reasons why seniors are hesitant about a move to senior living communities. She shared the many benefits of living in a senior living community like Brightview Danvers including the ability to maintain your independence with an opportunity to meet new friends, join in activities, attend fun events and social gatherings or clubs. It may take some time to decide whether to downsize or not. Even if you decide to downsize it may take time to feel ready to sell your home and make the move. In the meantime I encourage you to start now to explore your options. Schedule a tour today and make a plan to attend one of the many social events.
Thank you to Sarah at Brightview Danvers for your support in making this program happy and for the delicious dessert treats and fruit bowl we all enjoyed!
